Metaphysical meaning of Evi (mbd)

Metaphysical meaning of Evi (mbd)
Evi, e'-vl (Heb.)--desire; inclination; choice; the will; object of desire, i.e., where the will is centered.

A king of Midian who was slain by the Israelites at the time that Balaam, son of Beor, was killed and the Midianites were defeated (Num. 31:8).

Meta. Unjust desire. All desire at its origin is good and is of God; but in interpreting itself to the human consciousness it takes on the dominant beliefs therein. This, in Evi's case, is the belief in materiality and sense, in rebellion against the true thoughts of Spirit (Israelites). Thus the desire expresses itself as a longing for thoughts and activities that would mean injustice to one's higher self and degradation to one's whole being.
