Shaashgaz, shå-ash'-gaz (Heb. fr. Pers.)--beauty's keeper; servant of the beautiful; devotee of beauty.

A chamberlain of King Ahasuerus of Persia and Media. He kept the king's concubines (Esth. 2:14).

Meta. An inherent devotion to that which is beautiful and refined, that serves as a connecting link between the dominion of the puffed-up personal will in the individual and his feminine or soul qualities (servant of the beautiful, devotee of beauty, a chamberlain to King Ahasuerus, one who kept the concubines of the king).
