Metaphysical meaning of Haman (mbd)
Haman, ha'-man (Heb. fr. Pers.)--magnificent; splendid; celebrated; famed; solely; only; the planet Mercury; noise; arrogance; tumult; inner commotion; trouble.

Son of Hammedatha the Agagite. He was very high in the favor of King Ahasuerus of Persia and laid a plot for the destruction of all the Jews who were in that land. He was thwarted, however, by Mordecai and Esther, and was hanged on the gallows that he had built for Mordecai (Esth., 3d to 9th chapters).

Meta. Haman, "son of Hammedatha, the Jews' enemy" (Esth. 9:10), stands for the activity of the phase of the carnal consciousness in man (the Adversary) that gives itself up particularly to working against man's religious thoughts and tendencies, his highest spiritual beliefs and aspirations (the Jews).
