Throughout the work of Unity and as you know, unity for a hundred years now has been trying to bring forth the truth to individualize it into the concept and the understanding of each individual that it can work as a great force in the lives of each individual to bring forth and to create the new heavens and new earth. Fortunately, Mr. Fillmore had written a book quite some years ago having to do with colors and in a very positive way because I think so many people who get into color therapy and who get into the various aspects of color and relationships of colors get into some very negative things. So Mr. Fillmore, as he did with everything else, tried to put to it the very positive approach, and in that sense, we could ask the question, who has the right or who is the authority on color?

Possibly way back when someone made some decisions about color and we have not investigated them to see whether they are valid or not. And so what I'm going to try to do tonight is give you some concepts and some thoughts about color so that each individual then can interpret in themselves and through themselves the work of color. Byron Frenchman did a great deal of work with color some years ago, and of course it was based on theory at first and then proven in various hospitals where color was used in therapies in the various healing agents for colors. So colors have played then an important part particularly colors became important in the religious symbolism of mankind and has been very much so for thousands of years. Color was associated with the various deities and the prevailing arrangement has descended to us through what we know then as the occult study of astrology from the cigarettes or astronomical towers of Babylon and Chaldea.

These were usually constructed with seven platforms or levels, each of which then each level would have been painted a different color. Now as far as the study of the colors and the values of them, then most of the early colorations have faded away, but they have been noted by early historians and the thought and movement of the color concept has been handed down through the various religious beliefs throughout the years. Now the priest who would be serving the various altars of the various deities, war vestments of appropriate Hughes then and this practice with certain modifications has perpetuated down through the so-called history of the church and the Christian Church.

A good example is associated with the practice of medicine then, and although it was primarily spiritual healing was primarily thought of as a art of the religious centers of the world and not so much with the medical society itself. I have ordered some books and we'll have them available to you. Some of you who have visited England will know about the Bach flower remedies and there is a hospital outside of London that practices and uses this type of therapy in very wide range. Flowers, shrubs, and even minerals were believed to possess then these strong therapeutic virtues according to their colors. And these were duly then classified dyes of the early artisans extended the symbolism into the fields of clothing and a dormant not only of the priests, but then people who were concentrating on healing through color would be advised by these color experts as to the various colors that would be for certain healings in due time.

Then colors came to be insignias of rank and color took on new meaning and new purpose. And more recently they have become part of the science or the greater science because we are fine that science is using light and color in a very wonderful way. You will be most familiar with it in our time as the laser surgery and the tremendous things now that are being done with the laser, the work of the laser beam. In fact, surgery will be done painlessly and without anesthetics. It is really a tremendous step forward and all of this has been brought out of then and brought forth through the historical and ancient civilizations who took up this study until the 14th century ad. The only the liturgical color that was recognized by the early Christian Church was white and it was the recognized color and all priests and people who were teachers of the science of religion and the science of Christianity were white about the 13th century.

Then there began to be a sort of invasion of color into the church. White was no longer predominant and the youth of red, green and violet became very strong within the church, beginning with the white. And then the next three colors brought into the liturgical robes were the red, green and violet. And then later in the 13th century, black was duly prescribed and certain rights for certain rights and ceremonies and of course it has influenced the vestments worn by the several grades of the clergy. At that particular time, you would be able to look at the clergy and tell what degree they had or what position they held according to the color of robes or if they predominantly wore white or black, then a special woven insignia of colors, then you would be able to determine just what position they held in the church. As I said, white as the most appropriate symbol of light took precedent over all the other colors in spiritual significance.

Blue and violet were used occasionally, but deep purple was not favored by religious orders, possibly due to its association with secular rulership and so they avoided purple as much as possible. Purple was the imperial color of Rome at that particular time in the evolution of mankind's religious search and also the imperial cities and the imperial thought system. So purple was the imperial color of Rome and because Rome was a rather disliked group of people at that time, the Roman people purple was not a very favored color and when a Caesar participated in religious ceremonies, he wore a purple robe and red shoes and this was the way that it must be at that particular time. Now it seems that no one really knows why this combination and there has been considerable controversy regarding it over the shoes and the opinion is that it originated with the blood of sacrificial animals and so it was then believed in the liturgical garments that the red shoes were symbolic of the blood of sacrifice and therefore the purple was the royalty, but this royalty came through sacrifice.

Liturgical colors then are strongly associated with what we think of today as Christian mysticism and the meanings ascribed to them are largely then what we would think of as theological meanings. There is a possibility however that the interpretations originated in the metaphysical speculations of the Egyptian and Greek initiate priests. This is certainly true in the case of the Greek Orthodox church, but interest in this phase of the subject has subsided in recent years and people are not really that much interested in color. Now. Color also had its rich and great influence in the religious art. White was the purest of all colors and was worn by those completely dedicated to the service of God. And once the initiate had gone through the roles of initiation and had completed in a satisfactory manner the initiations of the rituals to become the head of the priesthood, then they would always wear white. Now, white then stood for humility. It stood for integrity and it stood for detachment from worldliness. All women involved in church work wore white, so the early nuns who became a part of the early church, their vestments or their habits were always white. It was not until sometime later when nuns began to develop in other areas of the world outside of Rome that they began to decide on various colors and the color code changed at that time.

Purity was a natural virtue for all people who were dedicated to the purpose of humanity and they were to accept with humility then, and this humility is shown and indicated by their wearing of the white. There has been no complete agreement in the religious use of colors in recent times in as much as people have accepted almost entirely a new type of religious beliefs. And so colors are of practically no importance in the religious of people today unless you are into a very orthodox system. It was proper for the Virgin Mary in white also, especially after the assumption white is warned by the Pope and of course worn by nuns. It indicated their marriage to Christ because they had become brides of the lamb. And so nuns of that particular period always wore white because it was the pure virgin life that now was married to the Christ and become a movement in the church, a force for good and they were required to wear white in the early days then of Christian symbolism, red symbolized loyalty, divine love, and of course, as we are moving into February the month of love, of course, what is the color that we most think of?

Red and pink, isn't it? So red is the color of love, the creative power of God. Red is the creative power of God and of martyrdom after the crucifixion, Jesus is sometimes represented or shown warring. Wearing a red cloak over his seamless white robe, red as a symbol of the cleansing of the consciousness is therefore an appropriate symbol of the passion of Christ. It further suggests then this deep and ardent desire of the believer for personal identification then with God and this identity to the creative spirit of the universe among the troubadours and other Christian mystics, the red rose stood for divine love and the white rose for inspired wisdom. So if one were to give a gift of flowers, if one deeply felt or had strong feelings toward another person, then the red roses would be a symbol of that deep love. If you wanted to give a gift of the recognition of the wisdom or the great knowledge of another person, then the white rose or white roses would be given in recognition for the inspiration which they're able to give.

The combination of dark red and black was assigned to Satan. Now blue, because it was the color of the sky signified a state of heaven. Also, it relates to truth and fidelity. Christ is sometimes shown wearing a blue cloak or mantle, and the virgin Mary is pictured with a gown or veil of Azure blue in some systems then blue is associated with meditation and is one considered one of the most appropriate colors for meditation because it is believed down through the period of the church and the rituals and activities of the church that this particular shade of blue, when one would sit in that environment of blue, it had an influence that would help in the purification of the mind leading to an experience then of true wisdom. So when we did our prayer room over to exclusively use it for the purpose of prayer, it was the decision then to do the room entirely in blue.

And so excuse me, it is significant then that this should be our prayer room because sitting in that environment for a period of time in quietness or stillness then would be an indication or according to symbolism, an act of the purification of thought and one's readiness to accept the wisdom of God and to move upon it. It is also considered a peaceful color, suggesting the mystical experience. For some reason green was not especially favored in old Christian art or in Christian rituals, and its meaning originated in the contemplation of nature and the annual resurrection of living things. Each year at the vernal equinox, the earth put on its adornments of foliage and in a mystical sense, therefore green was the symbol of fertility and green bore witness of the benevolent powers of the universe bringing all things to fruition. It further implies spiritual integrity and victory over the vistas of life.

And so green is a color of multiplication. It is a color of prosperity, it is the color of the abundance of the universe. It is the creative system giving to humanity, the offspring of divine mind, the abundance and the richness of the Holy Spirit. Yellow or golden is associated with marriage and this does not necessarily mean human marriage, but in the sense of high mind like dancers moving and just performing the dance of color. This then would be symbolic of this union that one is making with the divine spirit of the universe and that in that moment there is this exaltation. There is this uplifting of the human self to a higher and more noble action of life. It also has been inspired by the ripening of grain and we call the fields of wheat, the golden fields of wheat, and this is the symbolic in the outer or external world of the inner bread of life.

Christ is the bread of life upon which we feed and nourish our souls spiritually, but the golden fields of sweeping grain, and I remember driving through the state of Washington and Wyoming many years ago in those tremendous acreages of wheat fields and weaving and moving in the wind and how beautiful that golden grain is. Then the symbol of the harvest of abundance, okay, sort of brownish yellow, considered an unpleasant hue, then was assigned to Judas who betrayed Jesus. The golden ornaments on the altar of the golden thread and the golden threads in the vestments of officiating priests were believed to reflect the light of the spiritual son. So gold is an artist who have drawn and painted the pictures of saints and particularly the man Jesus have drawn about his head, a golden aura of light. This is the pure Christ light and so we do not think of pure white as symbolic of the Christ light, but the golden white light is symbolic then of the nature of Jesus, the purified consciousness of man with the pure radiation of love.

Violet was the color of the suffering and passion of Christ. It is the color of repentance, it is the color of love and it is the color of truth. Violet is the color of purification from mortal sin. Mer May Magdalene was a penitent. As a penant penitent wears the violet robe. Now the mother of Jesus after the crucifixion was gowned in violet because she shared spiritually the suffering of her son. Jesus after the resurrection was sometimes depicted then also in the violet robe to show that he had overcome suffering and those who could accept the love of the universal God and allow this love to integrate and very real sense take over and possess their lives would then wear the aura of the violet prayer consciousness. Violet, according to the Father signified then this purification and this radiation of harmony. It was a gentle reminder that all mortal things will fade, but that which is real constantly exists and so violet is the color of eternity again.

When we put this addition on the center here and built this room on and I was very strong about having the walls painted violet, I think most of the people thought I was mad, but I stuck to my guns and continued to insist that the room must be painted in the lavender color. Lavender is the color of harmony, it is the color of repentance and it is the color for the love of truth. It is the divine color, the aura of one's simplicity in religious practices, black is the color of mortality, mourning and humanity. In some old paintings, Jesus is shown robed in black during the temptation in the wilderness. And so each phase of the life of the man Jesus was not only symbolic in the way that he lived, but at these particular stages in his unfoldment, it is quite interesting as to the colors that he wore to move through the various phases of his life.

This somber color is a reminder of original sin and is worn by penance as an order of confession and the need for repentance. Now the soul confesses its shortcomings by remnants of mourning. These are the widows weeds worn by those who are separated from their Lord. The black garments of the clergy clergy imply the hope of inner spiritual resurrection through service to God. And so black became then the symbol of the clergy because it was saying that the clergy, although they were involved in religious teachings and the art of trying to help other people to become spiritually conscious and aware of who and what they were, that this was a symbol that they had not quite made it, that they were still mortal. But although the inner man, the inner part was struggling for peace and to be a great teacher, yet they had the conflict with the outer environment.

The polarities then of white and black have been carried forward from primitive beliefs that light was a universal benefactor and darkness and appropriate symbol of one's aloneness in old folklore. Evil forces had their greatest power in those hours between sunset and dawn and hope returned when the new day was heralded by the crowing of the cock and the rising of the sun. In Oriental astronomy, the sun was represented by a rooster in the center of a red disc and the moon, a rabbit against a white circular background. So we have then in the esoteric understanding a system of five colors and in the Buddhist there are the five colors which then are the white, blue, yellow, red, and green. In the great pagoda, these five colors are symbolically used and so it is again symbolic and shows the way down through the years of man's search for the real truth of being.

Sir Isaac Newton 1642 to 1727 was the greatest scientist of his time and of course we know that he continues to receive the admiration of the learned people who are still in search of identity, reason and purpose. It is interesting to remember that Newton was deeply religious and gave considerable time to the study of creationism lore and what we know as alchemy, one of his greatest discoveries. That was that when a narrow beam of sunlight was decomposed by passing through a prism, the range of colors then locked within sunlight were released producing what he then called and as we know today, a spectrum of color. Further research proved that the colors of the spectrum could not be broken down but retain their identities when passed through other prisms. While Newton's experiments have been experienced intuitively long before his day, he provided the evidence then that light contained within itself qualities and characters characteristics that found specialized expression in every department of nature and of course that there were universal laws manifesting through light in the sustaining of the harmony of the world and people would say it's a blue Monday and their predictions down through the years and by people saying that Monday is a blue day, it became a superstition.

And for that group, blue became a unhappy color, but Newton proved that all colors have their place in the harmonizing effect of the movements of the molecular system, of the universe and play a very important part. Each of the colors or combinations then of these colors are fill a precise purpose and with accuracy work out there, work in the world one step further enabled the religionist to perceive in the spectrum a complete moral order and the God who dwelt above the firmament was seen to be present in every sunbeam, the countless forms unfolding through the natural world. Then from this universal creative activity, we're fed accordingly to their needs Through this breakdown of color in the color spectrum to the materialist, light is only a form of energy, but the more thoughtful individual and prayerful individual we'll continue to contemplate the mysteries of light. The more certain we become that it is an eternal testimony to the master plan hidden in the depths of space.

Western religions have been content to accept and use color symbolism, but they have never explored systematically. Its deeper meanings. Eastern doctrines are basically idealistic and in their sacred writings, Orientals have always assumed that we inhabit a living universe. Total existence is not an entirety but an entity, not an entirety, but an entity and every atom is in sold by an archetypal purpose. What better needs could be found then to justify the reality of things unseen than light when it is broken into then this spectrum of color such thinking inclines us to the contemplation of the cosmic biology and physiology of our universe. This is largely then what we would know and understand as the Buddhist position as all light sustains, all the generative process of nature. It must be considered then that light is universal. This concept is sustained by the mudra or hand posture and of course the cosmic space deity is depicted as personifying the union of the polar opposites of nature.

In perfect equilibrium, and this is the teaching of the Buddhist philosophy, if the energy sustaining existence is male female, it becomes obvious that all forms then of life share equally in its vital resources and that as we understand this polarity, we begin to realize and are able to comprehend that this polarization must take place in us individually before we can participate in a society and do it in a harmonious way so that this polarization through prayer and meditation must be accomplished first in the individual consciousness and it must be highly contemplative and not a speculative art. It is a contemplative art, not one of speculation, but as these qualities and this polarization takes place and the union is made within individual consciousness, there is then the ability to feel the benevolence of a process of universal energy, which no longer enshrines us into this small being that we are, but opens our shrine to the universe that worshipers might come and find peace at our shrine.

We need to then as we do this, the Buddhist then begins to awakening from this enclosure is inspired to the al and to the infinity of our universe begins to recognize not only that this Christ polarized perfectionist in each individual, but the Buddhist then sees it in the sun, the stars, the leaves, the flowers, trees, landscapes, and in every sound that they hear, not just merely as an assemblage of forms, colors and tones, devoid of their diviner expression, but an awakening to the reality of the universe. And that man is a part of this pulsation of the reality that the movement and the energies of love and peace and all of the things that we inwardly feel as we begin to understand this peaceful individual that we are, then we begin to have access to a much greater world and participation in a world way beyond the limits which we have confined ourselves to in our own consciousness of all civilized people in the world, the Japanese have the keenest appreciation of their natural environment from time immemorial.

They have been nature lovers and this has influenced every phase of their culture with them. Appreciation has been raised to the dignity of veneration and this is true of the Oriental, particularly the Japanese. This is especially noticeable in their gardens. They have never considered it appropriate to enter into competition with nature as other civilizations have done or to improve upon the patterns which nature has already established. When the individual attempts to dominate the beauties of the world around him, by imposing his own imperfect attitudes on matters beyond his comprehension, the result is unpleasing to the soul which intuitively recognizes propriety.

When I was in Japan the last time, the orient traveling through the orient, I saw this as an absolute truth. I was there during the second world war and then have gone back since, but Japan is most magnificent because every spot, even practically the size of the postage stamp is allowed to become a beautiful center. To contemplate everything in the Japanese world relates to that simple, functional comprehensive beauty without being ostentatious, the expert Japanese gardener makes every possible effort to conceal his own ingenuity, and this is quite true that he so works with the natural things that his own, he conceals any conceit of his own ability to design but allows it to appear that nature had done it in its own way. He wishes to lead the impression that he is a servant rather than the master of materials which he uses and that's beautiful.

I think as a painter is elective in the choice of subject matter. The oriental gardener places every plant and shrub then where its particular or unique qualities are given its fullest expression. So then as a wise parent guides the character of the child but does not interfere with its individuality. So the hor culturist then helps each plant to be completely itself. The Japanese garden is created to express symbolically of philosophy of life. Symbolically a philosophy of life, the labor is dedicated to the greater glory of beauty. As a revelation of truth, the palace Gardens of Europe are more formal and stand for a complete victory of personal preference such sometimes these are pleasant, but sometimes they appear to be artificial because of the very fact of the proudness that is placed upon it as the manner in which it has been planted persons with neurotic tendencies. Then when we think of healing and the healing qualities of color, persons with neurotic tendencies should avoid black and murky colors which are depressive and debilitating. Dark colors or dark hugs absorb color and heat, whereas white reflects light and therefore is more pleasant to wear. On warm summer days, wool is a poor carrier of light and it also blocks the energy rays flowing from the human body. Cotton is the most appropriate for general wear as it permits a free circulation of light rays. Synthetic fabrics are absolutely out.

Silk is a more protective fabric, but you see what's happening because we have violated the laws that are very natural to humanity. Our bodies are suffering from skin diseases and all sorts of things which are a result of synthetic fabrics. See, I choose not to wear synthetic fabrics. I like to find, even though he says this about wool, I still find wool comfortable at time, but I look and look and look for cotton stockings and cotton this and cotton that. Silk is a more protective fabric, but in its last analysis, protection is limitations. So far as light is concerned, site is the faculty then which most directly receives light into the psychic field of consciousness. The earliest forms of chromatic therapy were created around the idea of healing by causing the patient to gaze upon different color substances later through artificial means, and some of this is found in Byron's book on color.

Rooms were lighted with different hues and the patient was seated therein for a regulated length of time. Sometimes this light therapy required several hours. Color screens have been used to focus very shades of light on different parts of the human body. This goes back all the way to the ancient Egyptians. When the emerald, the stone was cut in a particular way and people who were brought for healing to the Egyptian doctors of that time would be placed on a table and the gem, the emerald would be very carefully placed in a certain position over the body so that light going through the emerald would be focused on the particular area of the body that needed healing. Then a concept came up about green. Since green represents growth and multiplication, that one had to be very discerning because if an individual had growth in the body such as cancer or tumorous growth, green is an unlikely color to use or raise of green because it will encourage the growth of tumors and of cancerous material.

And so that's a matter of speculation I'm sure, but green was used as a very strong healing process in that period of the Egyptian history and the ruby was another significant, particularly if one was having difficulties with circulation in the body and the circulation was not improving readily or fast. Then the stone, the ruby would be placed at different points like the feet, the top of the head and very strategic points to encourage the flow and the movement of circulation of the life force in the physical body. Red was recommended then, as I said, to stimulate the circulation of blood and to improve the circulation. Charles Fillmore emphasized different phases of meditation if one desired. Now, as I told you, he believes strongly in these colors, but rather than wearing the color in which we are going to have a meditation later, which I will bring out this phase of the meditation process that you can select a certain color, breathing it in for certain healing qualities.

Yellow then is the color which is used for nervous exhaustion and blue stimulates mental images and of course helps the mind to think in a clearer way. Relaxation of the nervous system is improved by the color of violet and physical fatigue and tension respond to green experiments with plants and animals seem to support this general point of view and although some of it may be thought of as theory, there is much of this which has been documented and is absolute proof of the value of color in our lives. One of the principle difficulties is the movement involves the creation of filters in which the pure colors are not contaminated. This is why the Egyptians and the people of that particular culture, the Mayan Indians and others, they had the pure gems and so there was no contamination of color. You would never use plastic to let color come through it because coming through the plastic in the first place, it kills the vibrations of the color.

So plastic should be used as little as possible because color and people who would use color filters and they would be of a plastic nature are defeating the purpose of color healing in the first place. Blue, for example, example is found in light bulbs nearly always contains some red and green has been conditioned by the addition of minute amounts of yellow or blue. It may be that such compounds are also useful, but they are difficult to classify. This is why it would be more practical and I think some of you have heard me say that Charles Fillmore used to have pure glass hurricane type lamps in which they would be of various colors and he did not use an electric bulb but a candle because the, as I just explained to you, the light coming through the filament of an electric bulb then has a mixture of colors.

It is not pure light, candle light is pure light and it is living light, living light. When he was particularly interested in writing and doing inspirational work, he would then put a white candle in the hurricane globe of a golden hue and of course this pure white light coming through the golden hurricane lamp is a symbolic of the wisdom of the Christ and the wisdom of the ages. The violet glass would be the harmonious activity and so on and so forth. The red lamp would be then healing help in both the circulation of thought and the circulation of the energies throughout the physical organism. The physical body and yellow of course, not only is a color of healing, but it's a color of joy. Yellow, almost invariably when we see yellow. It's kind of a joyful, isn't it? When you see somebody in a pretty yellow dress, they look much more a lot of other colors, don't they?

You see this and when you look at a field, a meadow, when I was a little boy on the farm in between my grandparents' home and our farm, there was a large meadow where sometimes the cattle would pasture there, but in the spring that meadow would be almost covered totally with daisies and it was such a wonderful thing to walk through there because it had this tremendous radiation of light and joy because there you had your poor white of the pedals, pure white of the pedals of the daisy and the yellow little face inside that just almost spoke to you and welcomed you to participate in the joy of the universe. So yellow is a very strong and beautiful color.

The Chinese involve color in their theory of government so strong were the Chinese in their concepts regarding color and the use of it. That documents, especially for appointments of officials were prepared on long scrolls of brocade silk and each role consisted of a panel of red, blue, black, white and yellow to represent the five provinces of China. The Chinese also recognized five planets, not including the sun or moon. Each of the provinces was under the guardianship of one of these planets and the imperial robes always united the colors of the provinces. Then the classes of the mandarins were distinguished by accessories of various colors and both the dragon and the phoenix were appropriately multicolored. This brings into focus the astro theological attributions of colors to the planets and in some cases to the constellations. Stained glass windows in churches were to permit the suns raised to pass through representations of sanctified beings or symbols associated with the Christian faith.

So wherever you see the stained glass windows in churches, they are not just stained glass for the purpose of being beautiful and stained glass, but they were for the purpose of as the light, the sun particularly particularly coming through that stained glass would cast all these marvelous vibrations upon the people who were participating in the service. The colors were very carefully selected by artisans versed in the chromatic concepts of their times, and it must be acknowledged that the luminous windows contributed to the mood of the devout worshiper then and created both a contemplative and an imaginative say it to worship and to pray. Of course, man accepted the benediction of the colors of light and also knew in an inner sense that they were the protecting vibrations of a great universal spirit. Now, astrology which goes into antiquity has provided convenient means for the classifying many forms of knowledge and so we owe much to the astrological background of the world so long it is held as it is held into a very powerful influence.

I'm going to quickly go through with you now the chromatic therapy in the incarnation process and being born into the various 12 signs of the zodiac and the colors that are symbolic of those months or those periods of the zodiac and the colors that represent them. Emmett Fox often spoke of how we are born into each phase through this progressive reincarnation system until we fulfill all the plans and purposes of human experience. To then the realization of our absolute divinity, Aries, which is the first sign of the zodiac is brilliant red, the distribution of mental and physical areas and the brain control of body functions. Oftentimes the Aries are very brainy. They're oftentimes hard to convince because they are on a high intellectual realm and because of this high intellectual pursuit, oftentimes they appear to be flighty because confusion comes to them in trying to, they have a tendency to analyze everything very deeply and this analytical intellectual basis makes it hard for them to accept the circulation of life without question.

Taurus is an orange red and this has to do with the recuperative vitality which protects health in periods of stress. It is said that the to has a great field of comeback. Taurus people have quick healing powers. Gemini is orange, the element of air in the body. It is the oxygenation of the body, the interplay of the sensory powers and the electric nerve system. Now if this is out of balance, the Gemini can find themselves very frustrated when this color is not in balance and when it is not doing its higher work in the Gemini person, there will be, they are extremely sensitive and because of that sensitivity, they will then retard or slow down the electric nerve fluid which feeds them and they will have deep periods of depression and frustration. Cancer is the yellow orange nutrition and the alchemical transformation in the digestion of food perol action and the perpetuation of cell formation, the cancer individual.

Then you will generally find that cancer people are more interested in nutrition than probably any other group. In the zodiac you'll find many cancer individuals who are quite interested in health food and all types of nutrition and so on and so forth, and it has a great deal to do with the digestive powers and the natural parasol action. So cancer people love gardens, they love home and are very ingenious in their abilities to maintain that sort of system. Now naturally we don't have time to take a chart and discover where in the 12 houses in your chart these various aspects because undoubtedly many of you would have six to eight and maybe all of these planets in your 12 houses somewhere, and then how they would relate in a particular way to the work of the whole Leo is yellow, the stimulation of the vital field of the heart, the quickening of the embryo and the distribution of the energy through the blood.

So the Leo probably the thing about the Leo personality is that they take things too much to heart, too much to heart, and the Leo, the thing that the Leo must watch very carefully is heart problems. Virgo, yellow, green, the absorption of nutrition, the assimilation of food, body chemistry in general and elimination Libra is green. The process is involving distillation, sublimation, glandular secretion, and the fluids of the body kidney functions. Scorpio is a bluish green procreation, pigmentation and body coloration in general, Sagittarius is blue and it has to do with the motor nerve energy. Most sagittarians never stop moving, even if they're sitting still, something about their body is moving and so the Sagittarian is the motor nerve action. They've got things got to be happening, they've got to be moving, they've got to be on the move. Capricorn is a violet blue and it has to do with induration, crystallization, the conserving of natural resources and the aging process.

Aquarius is violet and the indigo range. The defense mechanisms which protect the body from toxins and the inroads of infection. There is emphasis upon the lungs and the nervous systems. Aquariums who would be out of balance with this natural color, which is native to their sign, could then be affected by nervous breakdowns, nervous frustration and so on and so forth. But when used in the right way, they balance their lives and they become very quiet and very poised people. Pisces is the red violet and this has to do with this lymphatic system. It has to do with perspiration, the action of the larix glands, liver function and the circulation to the extremities. So many of the wisest positions of both eastern and western nations then believe that sickness begins with the obstruction of natural processes and that it is important that one not look to one phase of the life experience to prove all things, but life is a wholeness, that life is a completeness and that each phase of our creative process, which involves birth and death and all the things in between, then we must understand all the complexities of both the human nature but never to lose sight of the divine because through these magnetic fields and the different structures of the organs and tissues of the body, they're then like small constellations within the world of man himself and they draw energy from the food through the law of sympathy.

Nutrition would fail if the sources outside the body did not have magnetic polarities with the body.

Certain that people say they cannot eat somewhere along the line because of childhood or some other thing in life, they have broken the polarity with a certain food and say, well, that food makes me sick. So they have broken the polarity with the food and the food is not compatible with them because of this thing that has been set up in consciousness. And the food, if they should try to eat it at later times in their life will cause them what distress, right? Because there is not the polarization. Most persons, one doctor says die first in the digestive system. In addition to the zodiac correspondences, then each of the planets had its part to play in preserving health following the formula mentioned earlier.

Then I'm not going into that part of it. Trades and professions have their color that are significant to them and these can be studied at length in various textbooks of astrology. It must be assumed that human consciousness is sustained by light. Every ray of which includes the potential of awareness, let there be light. Definitions of consciousness are numerous and the term is used differently in various systems of philosophy and psychology. So color does play an important role in your life and learn to be the colorful person that you are meant to be. There are no bad colors. Light has been called the radiant fringe on the robes of the eternal as the breastplate of the high priest of Israel was inlaid with the jewels of the 12 tribes of Israel. The human soul is a splendid synthesis of the colors of righteousness. The more we contemplate the labors of light, the more deeply we appreciate the alphabet of colors. Then as letters are brought together to form words each with a specialized meaning in our life. So every arrangement and combination of colors helps us spell out the definitions of those words of power that are working through us to look upon the labors of light as to behold the face of God. To conquer the confusion of colors is to overcome the confusion within ourselves and to become more keenly aware of the laws which govern the growth and perfection of all things.

The brief examination of the characteristics of persons then born under the rulership of these signs that we spoke of will help in building the character and defining the procedure that one needs to follow to grow stronger in their beliefs. The color black was used to represent the veil of darkness through which each soul must pass before he can understand the higher secrets of the spiritual life, the deeper meanings of his philosophies and the essential dignity of himself. And so the author is here is saying that every time we go through the veil of darkness, it is by necessity, but by going through the veil of darkness, we then should, if we do not become angry with life, we should be able to find the deeper secrets that lie deep within our own being and to find a greater meaning and a deeper purpose for life and to accept life with a new dignity, to not allow the superficial things of life to catch us up in the emotions that cause us to become frantic and disturbed and upset and so on and so forth.

Because as surely as the soul needs a night of darkness, it'll come and the veil of darkness is but a period of decision in which the individual can choose to remain under the veil of darkness or if they again will seek the deeper light within their soul and to victoriously, then discover the essential Christ light and use the wisdom and the power of love as the total overcomer of life. Black has been associated with form, but through each of nature's mirad structures, light shines as from a many colored lantern. There is an unmanifested core. In each of us there is a midnight sky, the abode of the uttermost innermost. This is the divine darkness. We live also in a world of embodied creatures, building our way of life upon the dark earth. Beneath our feet in the physical realms of uncertainty, we are confronted by the negative pole of darkness, which in a sense is simply the imperfection of evolving creatures. As the Chinese poet has put it, we are climbing a ladder made up of jewels of light to come to the end of that darkness, which is the source of all that we are.

I know this is very brief and certainly it is not complete and by these colors as brought out in the book of Revelation, writing to the seven churches in the seven seals, these are symbolic then of the seven rays of colors and the opening of the consciousness to the pure white light. Then as it is broken down and manifests itself in various aspects of vibration. Omar had this tremendous feeling about color and as I told you, he used the globe in the candle for various things, but then he got this idea that one could do this purely through the meditative powers of consciousness. And so he would quiet and still himself as he did this, oftentimes he would play abstract music so that he would not identify with a particular kind of music. So his attention would be lost in the music.

But then if he were dealing with a particular need in his life, and now you can pick whatever color you choose. Pink is the color of love and peace, violet, harmony, green growth, prosperity, blue, healing, tranquility, yellow joy. And what I would like you to do now is just relax from the very top of your head to the very soles of your feet. It's quite easy to relax. Just take a deep, deep breath and as you take this breath, hold it for just a moment, pulling the solar plexes in tightly and then just letting it out very simply and very easily. It's not difficult. And now select your color. And again, take a deep breath and breathe in that color, breathe in that color and hold that color and consciousness. And as you have a very vivid, very vivid picture of that color in consciousness now just release that color and let the raise of that color go down through the throat, out through the shoulders, down to the very tips of the fingers through the chest, the lungs, abdomen, down through the legs and the feet and relax.

Concentrate on the color. Do not let go of the color. Stay with the color. Stay with the color. Think of nothing else but the color. And as we said about the oriental philosophy, then this beautiful experience called life is but a climb up this jeweled ladder until the ultimate light is realized. And so in your mind's eye now see various like you had opened a treasure chest there before. Your eyes are beautiful gems, sparkling gems of all the wonderful colors of which we have spoken. And they're yours because these are the vibrations of life that are synchronized with the colors, the symphony of life, just as each color does have a musical note. This symphony of life then begins to have its movement through your consciousness and its performance through your body, freeing you from bondage to the body and external things to live in that sense of universal light and love for in you and in all time and space are the vibrations of all of these colors of love and peace, all of these colors of joy and harmony, all the colors of

Life.

I would suggest that you take another deep breath and stick with your color. Breathe that color in once more, and as you breathe it in, let your head go back just lightly and let this color flow down into your physical being, relaxing, feeling this sense of absolute and total peace. You rest, you relax and you feel this pulsation of light, this colorful experience of yourself to move in rhythm with the universal symphony, the cosmic song of the universe.

Rest, relax.

For some of you indeed, you might even experience the glimpse of past glories, past moments, floating garments. And yet they bring you to this very moment which tells you that in this priceless moment, in this very special, unique moment, all of you is one. To all of your experiences are this moment, there is none else and all the colors of your life are but the one moving through the prism of experience to allow the radiance of other colors to find movement and expression through the expression of life itself. And yet not changing a thing, only allowing room for growth, deeper insight and greater expression of life.

As you remain quiet, peaceful, I would like to share with you this the association of light with the faculty of sight invites consideration. The person born blind cannot experience the wonder of the solar radiance. Helen Keller wrote beautiful descriptions of landscapes, trees, and flowers, but she only knew them through her teachers. Ms. Keller told me that she had never had any type of metaphysical experience. Her grasp of the inner relationships of living things were derived in part from the holy scriptures. She read the Bible in braille and was a devout sweet borgian, Ms. Keller, who could study the forms of things by holding objects in her hands or touching their surfaces and by combining two or more testimonies, was able to define or describe shapes, sizes, weights, and textures.

Even those with ordinary vision follow much the same procedure. There is a kind of darkness which conceals the forms of things and another kind which conceals their meanings. It has been said that there are none so blind as those who will not see unless the inner light comes to the aid of the natural light. We wander in a darkness which we call, we now call light. The Bible reminds us if therefore thine I be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. This is the meaning of the radiant jewel placed in the forehead of images of Buddhists. What we call differences of opinion are really evidences of levels of insight. We must outgrow the concept of basic conflicts in the workings of divine and natural laws. The reconciliation of all opposites through understanding enable us to examine the phenomena of existence with a single eye.

If thine I be single, thy whole body shall be filled with light. Every ray of the sun contains within its powers the holy trinity. The holy Trinity abiding in man, manifested his spirit's, soul, body, or as the Chinese philosophers put it, heaven, earth, and man in this activity there is, but the one in the beginning was the word and the word was with God, and the word was God and him was life. And the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in the darkness and the darkness comprehend it. Not the true light, which light every man that cometh into the world is the light that you should now be experiencing within yourself. Every structure in nature has a number, a color, a sound, and a form, and all bear witness to a universal archetype. One pattern or design unfolding on the various planes of existence. These together with homer's golden chain, which links the earth with the pinnacle of Olympia in the old system, systems of mental energies of life are parts of the soul syndrome. By this concept, spiritual light is universality soul, light is individuality and bodily light is personality or the light of nature.

And so as we move on this pageantry of light, now begin to see all of the colors performing the beautiful dance of life within your consciousness as magnificent, light, ballet, majestic colors, mixing, moving, mingling in one beautiful dance of life and take a deep breath. Your mind is at perfect peace. Your body is in tune with the universal body of God. Your soul is one with all life. And somehow deep down within you, you realize without question all things, all things are working together for good. I'm the light of the world. I am this then is the absolute truth for this moment, for this consciousness of eternity. We do give thanks. We do give thanks. Now move your body gently. Take a deep breath and open your eyes slowly. Sit up in your chair conscious of who and what you are, the embodiment of light and that in you there is no darkness, you as free as you choose to be. God

Bless you.
