Beth-merhak, beth-mer'-hak (Heb.)--far house; place afar off; house set at a distance; a dwelling far off.
Either a place or a house between Jerusalem and the Mount of Olives, near the brook Cedron. David tarried here when he left Jerusalem to escape from Absalom (II Sam. 15:17).
Meta. A consciousness of separateness from God (far house, house set at a distance, place afar off) which for a season possesses the one in Truth when he has given himself over to the love (David) of external beauty (Absalom) apart from Spirit, and has come to the period of reaction, readjustment, or "judgment" because of his error.
