Metaphysical meaning of Elhanan (mbd)
Elhanan, el-ha'-nan (Heb.)--God is gracious; grace of God; whom God has bestowed; compassion of God; merciful God.
a A Beth-lehemite warrior in the time of David (II Sam. 21:19; I Chron. 20:5). He killed the brother of Goliath the Gittite. b One of David's guard of thirty valiant men (II Sam. 2:24); he also was of Beth-lehem.
Meta. A gracious, kindly, loving attitude of mind that emanates from God, Spirit, and is established in substance (Beth-lehem). This gives courage and fearlessness in combating seeming error.
