Metaphysical meaning of Harumaph (mbd)
Harumaph, ha-ru'-maph (Heb.)--slit-nosed; flat-nosed; closed to perception; dulled understanding; mutilated apprehension.
His son Jedaiah helped to repair Jerusalem's wall (Neh. 3:10).
Meta. A fruitful thought belonging to the perceptive capacity of mind (the sense of smell represents perception, with a keen and fine discriminating tendency). Slit-nosed indicates a severing of this sense of perception and discrimination for which Harumaph stands, a division of thought. Since unity of thought and purpose is necessary for a right understanding, expression, and manifestation, a divided mind tends to the dulling and closing of the perception faculty and its expression.
