Metaphysical meaning of Immanuel (mbd)
Immanuel, im-man'-u-el (Heb.)--God with us; God is with us.
A prophetic name of Jesus Christ (Isa. 7:14; Matt. 1:23). The Greek form is Emmanuel.
Meta. The consciousness that God is with us and we are one with Him. The understanding of how the "Word became flesh" in Jesus Christ and is now being made flesh in us even as it was in Him. "We shall be like him; for we shall see him even as he is" (I John 3:2).
