Metaphysical meaning of Ishmaiah (mbd)
Ishmaiah (A. V., I Chronicles 12:4, Ismaiah), ish-ma'-iah (Heb.)--whom Jehovah hears; understanding of Jah; whom Jehovah understands; who is obedient to Jehovah; obeying the Lord.
a Son of Obadiah. He was over the tribe of Zebulun, for service, in David's reign (I Chron. 27:19). b A Gibeonite who came to David at Ziklag, "a mighty man among the thirty" (I Chron. 12:4).
Meta. Active, controlling thoughts of serving and overcoming that are attentive and obedient to the inner spiritual ideals (obeying the Lord). They hear and heed the voice of Spirit, and are heard by Jehovah (whom Jehovah hears); their desires reach the heart of God and are fulfilled.
