Metaphysical meaning of Ismachiah (mbd)
Ismachiah, is-ma-chi-ah (Heb.)--whom Jehovah upholds; whom Jah sustains; refreshed by Jehovah; who lays hold of Jah; cleaving to the Lord.
A Levite; he was an overseer in the Temple service, during the reign of Hezekiah (II Chron. 31:13). He was one of the overseers over the oblations, tithes, and dedicated things that were brought by the people of Judah to the Temple.
Meta. Cleaving to the Lord, joined to Spirit--man in his true, inner, spiritual consciousness sensing his oneness with the Divine and holding faithfully to God as his support and supply. "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." Man is strengthened and sustained both within and without by spiritual substance and by the sustaining power, love, and Truth of Spirit. (See CONANIAH.)
