Metaphysical meaning of Nergal-sharezer (mbd)
Nergal-sharezer, ner'-gal-sha-re'-zer (Heb. fr. Pers.)--Nergal prince of fire; Nergal save the king.
A prince and chief officer of the king of Babylon. He helped rescue Jeremiah from the court of the guard (Jer. 39:3).
Meta. The error belief in outer force, in war, in fighting to defend one's rights and to increase one's possessions and power, exalted to an active, ruling place in consciousness. Though entirely of the outer, sense consciousness, and destructive in its character, this force is sometimes used for good, as is signified by the rescue of Jeremiah, in which Nergal-sharezer figured.
