Metaphysical meaning of Phanuel (mbd)
Phanuel, phan'-u-el (Gk. fr. Heb.)--turned toward God: face of God; within the presence of God; countenance of God vision of God; beholden of God; understanding of God.
A man of the tribe of Asher, and father of Anna, a prophetess (Luke 2:36). Penuel is the same name.
Meta. Spiritual understanding, divine insight into spiritual Truth (face of God, vision of God, understanding of God); also the inner realization of the divine presence, of having met God face to face and of having succeeded, through prayer, in attaining the divine favor and blessing that has been sought (turned toward God, within the presence of God, beholden of God).
