Shobab, sho'-bab (Heb.)--turned away turned back; apostate; rebellious; hostile: impious; backsliding. a Son of David, born in Jerusalem (II Sam. 5:14). b Son of Caleb, by Azubah (I Chron. 2:18).
Meta. An apparent falling away from the consciousness of love, divine enthusiasm, and faith, that in their highest sense are signified by David and Caleb (turned away, apostate; rebellious, hostile, impious, backsliding).
