Metaphysical meaning of Shobai (mbd)
Shobai, sho'-bai (Heb.)--taking captive; captivating; returning; returning of Jah; Jah is glorious.
His descendants were among the "porters" in the Temple, Levites who returned from the Babylonian captivity with Zerubbabel (Ezra 2:42).
Meta. A guarding thought activity (a porter or doorkeeper in the Temple) that, being lifted to a higher understanding and realization of Spirit (Jah is glorious, returning of Jah), sees the wonderful possibilities of the individual, or causes the individual to see his wonderful possibilities, through his indwelling Christ mind. Thus freedom is brought about by one's refusing to give further place or expression to the error, limited ideas that have heretofore held one in bondage (taking captive, captivating, returning, one whose descendants returned from the Babylonian captivity). That which Shobai signifies reminds one of the words in Ephesians 4:8:"When he ascended on high, he led captivity captive,And gave gifts unto men."Even so when we lift up the Christ in ourselves we obtain power and dominion to restrain, take captive, and cast out of our life limited ideas and conditions. "Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ" (II Cor. 10:5).
