Metaphysical meaning of Tubal-cain (mbd)
Tubal-cain, a descendant of Cain (meaning diffusion of Cain, diffusion of worldly possessions, owing of centralized might), bespeaks a broadening out of that which Cain signifies, or the same selfish thought removed to a broader, more universal base. For instance, a person's care and ambition for his children, for the community or city in which he lives, or even for his country, may be just as selfish and unreasonable and far removed from the true Christ love as is the selfishness in an individual that seeks to draw all good to himself. However, a broader base for one's centralization of love and ambition does lead to a larger life and to undertakings and successes on a much larger and broader scale than can ever be attained so long as one's whole thought is of oneself alone. Tubal-cain was supposed to be the inventor of the art of forging metals into cutting instruments.
