Metaphysical meaning of Uriel (mbd)
Uriel, u-ri-el (Heb.)--light of God; God is light; fire of God; radiation of God; God is the radiating principle of light.
a A Levite (I Chron. 6:24). b A Kohathite Levite, a chief (I Chron. 15:5). c A man of Gibeah and father of Micaiah, who was wife of Rehoboam, and mother of Abijah. This Abijah succeeded Rehoboam on the throne of Judah (II Chron. 13:2).
Meta. The truth that God is the radiating principle of light. A recognition of this truth opens the consciousness to spiritual understanding and purification (Uriel means light of God, fire of God, radiation of God; light signifies understanding, and fire denotes a purifying element that exists in true understanding. The fact that these are "of God" shows that they are spiritual.)
