Metaphysical meaning of Zalmon (mbd)

Metaphysical meaning of Zalmon (mbd)
Zalmon, zal'–mon (Heb.)--shade; shadow; overcast; shadowy; shady; darkness; shadowed forth; apposition; projected image; reflection; making like; likeness; image; idol.

a "The Ahohite," one of David's mighty men and a member of his guard, or council (II Sam. 23 :28). He is called Ilai in I Chronicles 11:29. b A mountain near Shechem (Judg. 9:48).

Meta. A going up to a higher plane of thought (a mountain; also the man named Zalmon is called Ilai in I Chronicles 11:29, Ilai meaning elevated, supreme), but with the understanding of Truth as yet obscure. Because of man's seeing more from the standpoint of the cuter senses than from the inner Spirit, the light and the presence of that which is divine are not yet fully revealed to the consciousness (shady, shadowy, darkness, projected image, making like). "For now we see in a mirror, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know fully even as also I was fully known." (See ZALMONAH.)
