I have a 1941, leather-bound, original edition of Teach Us To Pray, which was given to me by a dear friend. In 1943 the owner of the book wrote at the end of this chapter: "Take words and return unto Jehovah. The Silence period is our returning, Our affirmation is the words we take." Isn't this quotation from Hosea 14:2 and the way the student has interpreted it a wonderful way to bring Unity's use of affirmations together with Unity's teaching on the Silence? The affirmation is our substance and it is in the Silence that we appropriate that substance.
