Metaphysical meaning of Azotus (mbd)
Azotus, a-zo'-tus (Gk.)--fortress; castle.
The Greek rendering of Ashdod. Philip, after having baptized the eunuch who was on his way from Jerusalem to Gaza, was caught away by Spirit, and was found at Azotus (Acts 8:40).
Meta, The apparently deceiving, destructive, sense or carnal state of consciousness that Ashdod symbolizes, lifted to a higher intellectual realm (Azotus of the Greeks) and being imbued with spiritual power (Philip) to a still further resurrection into constructive spiritual expression.
