Metaphysical meaning of Beer (mbd)
Beer, be'-er (Heb.)--well; a dug well; ditch; pit; expounding; declaring; digging out.
a A well to which the Israelites journeyed while in the wilderness. The Scriptures (Num. 21:16-18) speak of it thus: ". . . the well whereof Jehovah said unto Moses, Gather the people together, and I will give them water."Then sang Israel this song:Spring up, O well; sing ye unto it:The well, which the princes digged,Which the nobles of the people delved,With the sceptre, and with their staves." b The name of a town to which Jothan fled from his brother Abimelech (Judg. 9:21) .
Meta. The name Beer in the Bible, whenever used, whether in connection with some other name or not, denotes the presence of a well of water. Beer represents, therefore, the depths of life and of Truth in man's consciousness, which will spring up into everlasting life when he makes proper contact with it.
