Cherith, che'-rith (Heb.)--cutting; separating; dividing; slaying; a trench; a gorge; a wound.
"The brook Cherith, that is before the Jordan" (I Kings 17:3); a place in Palestine--a brook, or river, where Elijah hid in obedience to the word of Jehovah, and was fed by ravens.
