Metaphysical meaning of Cherethites (mbd)
Cherethites, chër'-e-thites (Heb.)--executioners; couriers; foot runners; headsmen.
The Cherethites belonged to David's life guards, or bodyguards. Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, was over them (II Sam. 8:18).
Meta. Activities of a high degree of understanding and justice, also of life energy and executive power (executioners, headsmen, and foot runners); these protect and serve, and execute the demands of, the love faculty in man when it is raised to the seat of power and dominion in consciousness (King David).
