Metaphysical meaning of Crete (mbd)
Crete, crete (Gk.).--cut off; carnal; fleshly.
A large island in the Mediterranean Sea; it is now called Candia. The boat in which Paul was being taken to Rome to appear before Cæsar sailed along close to this island for some time, and Paul wanted the managers of the boat to stay in Crete for the winter because of the perils of storms at that time of the ear. But they would not listen to him (Acts 27:7-21).
Meta. The material, sensual, worldly consciousness in man, as opposed to the spiritual (carnal, fleshly).
