Metaphysical meaning of Eliahba (mbd)
Eliahba, e-h'-ah-ba (Heb.)--God hides; whom God conceals; hidden by God.
A Shaalbonite, a mighty warrior of David's (II Sam. 23:32).
Meta. The concealing of divine love in consciousness from its enemies, the sense thoughts, desires, and activities of the carnal mind. By the wisdom and cunning of the outer senses (Shaalbim, whence Eliahba came, and meaning place of foxes) we cannot search out God or come into an understanding of our divine qualities. Our divine qualities are hidden by God--by the very fact that they are spiritual and not material. This natural concealment of the spiritual from the material is one of divine love's strong, protective, conquering powers (Eliahba "IS one of David's mighty warriors).
