Metaphysical meaning of Eloi (mbd)
Eloi (in Heb., Elohi), e-lo'-l (Aram.)--my God; God; in Aramaic also a contraction of Elias, or Elijah.
Part of the exclamation that Jesus made on the cross, and meaning my God (Mark 15:34). In Matthew 27:'16 the word is spelled Eli.
Meta. The soul in great stress crying out for God.
