Metaphysical meaning of Enoch (mbd)
Enoch, e'noch (Heb.)--founder; centralizer; teacher; instructor; initiator; fixer; repentance; contrition.
a A son of Cain. b A city that Cain built and named after his son (Gen. 4:17). c Son of Jared and father of Methuselah (Gen. 5:18-24). This latter Enoch was the man who walked with God and was translated, who did not die (Heb. 11:5).
Meta. Entrance into and instruction in a new state of thought, of understanding. In the case of the Enoch who walked with God, the new state of thought would be spiritual consciousness, the new life in Christ.
