Metaphysical meaning of Esau (mbd)
Esau, e'-sau (Heb.)--hairy; hirsute; rough; shaggy.
Son of Isaac, and twin brother of Jacob (Gen. 25:25; 27:38-41).
Meta. The body, or physical vigor.
In the immature consciousness the natural man is moved by desire. Appetite and passion are satisfied regardless of the higher law. Esau sold his birthright for a mess of pottage.
The threat of Esau against Jacob's life represents the inward rebellion that we often feel when we change our modes of thought.
