Metaphysical meaning of Gehazi (mbd)
Gehazi, ge-ha'-zl (Heb.)--valley of vision; valley of sight; depressed vision; diminished sight.
The prophet Elisha's servant (II Kings 4:12).
Meta. Sight, or perception.
II Kings 5:20-25 shows that the sight that Gehazi symbolizes must be intellectual perception, since it cannot always be relied upon; here, it judges by appearances, and does not discern the inner work of the soul. The definitions of the name also point to physical sight rather than spiritual. Gehazi's theft and falsehoods were punished with leprosy.
