Metaphysical meaning of Hillel (mbd)
Hillel, hil'-lel (Heb.)--praise; rejoice; celebrate; shout for joy; shine forth.
A Pirathonite. His son Abdon was a judge of Israel (Judg. 12:13). He was of the tribe of Ephraim.
Meta. The action of the will (Ephraim) in praising and magnifying God--one's highest concept of Truth. (Pirathon means peak, top, prince, and Abdon represents a phase of the judging, discerning capacity in man, united to the activity of the will in establishing justice in consciousness.)
