Metaphysical meaning of Jehovah-jireh (mbd)
Jehovah-jireh, je-ho'-vah-ji-reh (Heb.)--Jehovah will see; Jehovah will behold; Jehovah will provide.
A place on one of the mountains in the land of Moriah, where Abraham went to offer up Isaac. There he found a ram caught by its horns in the thicket, and he used it for a burnt offering in place of his son. "And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of Jehovah it shall be provided [in margin, he shall be seen]" (Gen. 22:14).
Meta. Jehovah-jireh signifies "I AM the provider." If we expect to demonstrate prosperity from without we find it a slow process; but if we know that I AM is the provider we have the key to the inexhaustible resource. (See JEHOVAH.)
