Joash, jo'-ash (Heb.)--whom Jehovah has bestowed; given of Jehovah; whom Jah supports; Jehovah heals; fire of Jehovah; fire of the Lord.

a Father of Gideon (Judg. 6:11, 2931). b A king of Judah (II Kings 11:2). c There are others by this name (I Kings 22:26; I Chron. 4:22; 7:8; 12:3; 27:28). The name is a shortened form of Jehoash.

Meta. As a king of Judah, Joash signifies the will (king) animated and directed by Jehovah, I AM, indwelling Christ (whom Jehovah has bestowed, fire of Jehovah), and sustained by Spirit in its executive working (whom Jah supports).

Joash is the rightful king in consciousness. He is brought to the throne by certain changes in consciousness symbolized by the movements of the soldiers (II Kings 11:4-16).

When Joash, the rightful king, comes to the throne, Athaliah is overcome; that is, the states of consciousness that she represents are broken up and dissolved, and eliminated from mind and body.
