Metaphysical meaning of Joppa (mbd)
Joppa (in A. V., Joshua 19:46, Japho), jop'-på (Heb.)--beauty, comeliness; good; excellence.
A town in Palestine on the seacoast of the Mediterranean, about forty miles from Jerusalem; it was Jerusalem's seaport. It is now called Jaffa (II Chron. 2:16; Acts 9:36).
Meta. A group of thoughts in consciousness, or a nerve center, not far from the heart center (Jerusalem), in which a very exalted appreciation of beauty is the central or dominant characteristic.
