Metaphysical meaning of Mashal (mbd)
Mashal, ma'-shal (Heb.)--proposition; likeness; parable; proverb; similitude; apothegm; fable; byword; government; rule; dominion; master; tyrant.
A border city of Asher that was given over to the Gershomite Levites (I Chron. 6:74). In Joshua 19:26 and 21:30 it is called Mishal.
Meta. The truth of man's power and possibilities of dominion as the son of God, as made in the divine likeness, hidden under the common, everyday, apparent things of life (likeness, parable, proverb, fable, byword, government, rule, dominion, master). This truth is active, though because of a lack of true and full understanding it tends to adversity (tyrant). Man must understand that his dominion is over himself; then in unifying his power to rule with love and wisdom he will reap only good in his own life and will do good only to others.
