Metaphysical meaning of Muppim (mbd)
Muppim, mup'-pim (Heb.)--serpents; glidings; wavings; coverings; hiding under ground; obscurities; darkenings.
Son of Benjamin (Gen. 46:21). He is also called Shephupham, Shephuphan, and Shuppim.
Meta. Human or sense wisdom (serpents) that is very subtle, and is unsteady and unsettled in its reasonings and deductions (glidings, hiding under ground, wavings, "tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine") and is not clear therefore (obscurities, darkenings), and does not lead the individual into the true light of spiritual understanding.
Muppim was a son of Benjamin the son of Jacob, and Benjamin represents an active faith quality in the spiritually awakening individual consciousness. At this stage of unfoldment these qualities that are innately spiritual are still expressing mostly on the natural or intellectual plane; the individual has not a clear recognition of his divine sonship, his spiritual reality.
