Metaphysical meaning of Paltiel (mbd)
Paltiel (in A.V., II Samuel 3:15, Phaltiel), pal'-t;-el (Heb.)--God makes smooth; deliverance of God; God is the way of escape; freedom of God.
a Son of Azzan. A prince of the tribe of Issachar, who was chosen from that tribe to help divide the land of Canaan among the Israelites (Num. 34:26). b The husband of Michal, daughter of Saul. David took her from Paltiel, since she had been given to David first (II Sam. 3:15; see PALTI).
Meta. Thoughts of divine protection and deliverance through the exercise of active faith and zeal by the individual. (Paltiel means God makes smooth, deliverance of God, God is the way of escape. The first man named Paltiel was of the tribe of Issachar; Issachar signifies active zeal. The second Paltiel was a native of Gallim, a town of Benjamin; Benjamin signifies faith.)
