Metaphysical meaning of Syria (mbd)
Syria, syr'-i-a (Gk.)--Aram; Aramaic; highland; high; swelling up; increasing.
The country called Aram, north of Palestine, sometimes associated with Assyria and Babylon. Its capital was Damascus (Judg. 10:6; see margin also; II Sam. 8:6).
Meta. The intellect, intellectual pride (highland, swelling up, increasing, the same country as Aram; see ARAM). The king of Syria is the ruling power in the egotistic, purely intellectual thought.
The Syria thoughts of the intellectual realm that have no understanding of the real (Israel) come down and seek to kill the spiritual thoughts of the heart (II Kings 6:8-14).
