Metaphysical meaning of Uzzah (mbd)
Uzzah (in A. V., I Chron. 6:29, Uzza), uz'-zåh (Heb.) --strength; might; power; firmness; splendor; majesty; glory.
Son of Abinadab. He was slain by Jehovah for touching the Ark of God in trying to steady it (II Sam. 6:3-8). Uzza is the same name.
Meta. Strength. In II Samuel 6 Uzzah means human strength. When the oxen (also representing strength) stumbled, the effort from the human side to steady Spirit met with a quick reaction from the divine law. Natural strength may be called into activity to sustain and uphold that which is sublimely exalted; the attitude of mind that makes the contact successfully is reverence, honor mingled with love. When reverence is missing, the natural strength will not fuse with the spiritual. This failure is portrayed as "the anger of Jehovah," to bring out forcibly the resistance of Spirit to human intervention. When a matter has been intrusted to Spirit it should not be touched by sense thought. Put your entire trust in the Lord and He will bring it to pass.
When man allows the carnal part of himself to act in place of the spiritual, and is defeated, he often rebels or is "displeased." He cannot see why strength of muscle is not just as good as strength of Spirit, and in his confusion he says, "How shall the ark of Jehovah come unto me?"
