Metaphysical meaning of Asriel (mbd)

Metaphysical meaning of Asriel (mbd)
Asriel (A. V., I Chron. 7:14, Ashriel), as'-r;-el (Heb.)--joining of God; God has bound together; vow of God.

Son of Gilead, and great-grandson of Manasseh and his concubine the Aramitess (Num. 26:31).

Meta. A unifying thought in consciousness (joining of God); man's awakening to the truth that there can be no real understanding, whether intellectual or otherwise, apart from God. (Manasseh relates to the understanding in its negative aspect, and Aram means the same as Syria, which refers to the intellect in man.) When man consciously unifies his understanding faculty with Divine Mind, the one source of all intelligence, he enters into a realization of his oneness with Spirit; he also realizes the vastness and sureness of the divine promises to man, or the divine operation in man (God has bound together, vow of God).
