Metaphysical meaning of Crescens (mbd)

Metaphysical meaning of Crescens (mbd)
Crescens, cres'-çens (Lat.)--growing; advancing; increasing; attaining honor.

An assistant of Paul's, who left Paul and went to Galatia (II Tim. 4:10). The text is not clear as to whether he went to Galatia to preach the gospel there, or whether he, like Demas, forsook Paul because he loved the world better than the things of Spirit.

Meta. There were Christians in Galatia. Paul went there to preach, and his Epistle to the Galatians was written to the Christian assemblies throughout that country, or province. If Crescens went there at the request, or with the consent, of Paul, to help spread and establish Truth in that place, he signifies the increase and growth of true ideas in consciousness. On the other hand, if he went to Galatia in a selfish spirit, because he desired worldly activity instead of Truth, he would represent an increase in thought and deed of that which belongs to the sense, personal, and limited consciousness in man. (See DEMAS.)
