Metaphysical meaning of Ish-bosheth (mbd)
Ish-bosheth, ish-bo'-sheth (Heb.)--man of shame; bashful man; man of confusion; naked man; man of vanity; idolatrous man.

Son of Saul. He was made king over a portion of Israel by Abner, but his rule did not last long (II Sam. 2:8). He is called Esh-baal in I Chronicles 8:33.

Meta. A remembrance of past errors remaining as a subconscious remorse or shame in mind. He rules part of the consciousness, but he is a weakling and his kingdom is insignificant. We should always be on the alert to put down this accusing conscience and place divine love (David) in its stead.
