Metaphysical meaning of Shushan (mbd)
Shushan, shu'-shan (Heb.) --lily; bright-colored; white; red; purple; colorful; joyous; bright; ornamental; trumpet; cymbal.

a The palace or castle of the king of Persia and Media. b The capital of Elam, where the kings had their winter palace. Later the kingdom of Persia included what was formerly called Elam (Esth. 1:2; Dan. 8:2). The same word is translated lily and lilies in other places in the Bible (I Kings 7:19-26; Song of Sol. 2:1, 2, 16).

Meta. Pure thoughts (lily). The orientals associate white with any brilliant color. The different colors, in their highest sense, bespeak spiritual qualities, and these all enter into true spiritual light and purity. (See ELAM.)
