Metaphysical meaning of Amphipolis (mbd)
Amphipolis, am-phlp'-o-l;s (Gk.)--around the city; about the city; surrounded city.
A Macedonian city through which Paul and Silas passed while Paul was on one of his missionary journeys (Acts 17:1).
Meta. Truth passes through several stages in entering the mind: doubt, then examination, then great desire for the Truth, then acceptance. These are represented by the Gentile cities, Amphipolis, Apollonia, and Thessalonica, through which Paul passed, and Beroea, where "he received the word with all readiness of mind."
