Hivite, hi'-vite (fr. Heb.)--animation; physical existence; life born of effort; bestiality; wickedness; villager; mid-lander.
Descendants of Canaan the son of Ham (Gen. 10:17). The Hivites were a nation in the land of Canaan that was tobe overcome and destroyed by the Israelites (Exod. 3:8; Josh. 3:10).
Meta. Thoughts belonging to the carnal consciousness in man. The Hivites were descended from Canaan, son of Ham, and refer to the physical and carnal in the individual.
