Metaphysical meaning of Jobab (mbd)
Jobab, jo'-bab (Heb.)--celestial jubilation; shout of joy; fullness of joy; welling shout of rejoicing; trumpet call of victory, desert; howling of wild beasts; wail of tribulation.
a Son of Joktan, who was a descendant of Shem, Noah's son (Gen. 10:29). b Son of Zerah of Bozrah, and king of Edom (Gen. 36:33). c A king of Madon who joined Jabin king of Hazor against Israel (Josh. 11:1).
Meta. The noisy, contentious tumultuousness of the outer personal man while under the dominion of the "mind of the flesh" (howling of wild beasts, wail of tribulation).
In Jobab, the thirteenth son of Joktan and the seventh generation from Noah, through Shem, we find a certain fulfillment of the seeming mortal and an entrance into that which the positive, spiritual meanings of the name signify--a realization of dominion over error and a rejoicing in Truth (celestial jubilation, trumpet call of victory).
