Metaphysical meaning of old man (mbd)
old man.
Meta. The old man is the sense man, the Adam man, the personal man. This is the man who sees himself as an imperfect, limited, mortal being rather than as perfect spirit, soul, and body. This is man before he receives the new life that is in Christ.
The old man is subject to death and to all the ills of the flesh. He is separate in consciousness from God.
We must lift up this man and wipe him out of our consciousness so that the Christ may be resurrected in us. This we do by the renewing of our mind.
