Metaphysical meaning of Sheresh (mbd)
Sheresh, she'-resh (Heb.)--scraping the ground; creeping; germ; sprout; shoot; root; germination; trunk; branch; lowest part; bottom; base; seat; abode; stock; race; genus.
Son of Machir, and grandson of Manasseh (I Chron. 7:16).
Meta. Sheresh, in its highest sense, signifies the fact that the root, the beginning, or foundation (base, seat) of all understanding, of all expression and manifestation, is Spirit. In Isaiah 11:10 this same word is used figuratively of the Messiah, as the "root" of Jesse.
