Metaphysical meaning of Sopater (mbd)
Sopater, sop'-a-ter (Gk.)--the father who saves- saving father; savior of the father; father saved; defender of father.
A Christian of Beroea, and son of Pyrrhus; he accompanied Paul as far as Asia on one of Paul's missionary trips (Acts 20:4).
Meta. The spiritually awakened or illumined understanding, that perceives the saving power of Spirit and defends the cause (as by argument, reasoning) of the true Source of all (the father who saves, savior or defender of the father).
