Rev. Shad Groverland is the co-founder of Fillmore Church, the former CEO of Unity Worldwide Ministries (2020-2024), and an ordained Unity minister. Fillmore Church is a newly-launched church in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, based on the Bible and Practical Christian teachings of Myrtle and Charles Fillmore. During his tenure as President/CEO at UWM, Rev. Shad worked to bring the original Fillmore teachings back into prominence in the organization, and to help Unity ministries thrive and grow in innovative, sustainable and cutting-edge ways.
Rev. Shad was born and raised in Unity by his parents Rev. Jack and Norma Groverland in Boulder, Colorado. After working for 25 years in sound production & management in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, he was called into ministry and attended the Unity Urban Ministerial School, receiving his ordination in 2016. He served as minister of Unity of Las Vegas for five years before returning home to Unity of Boulder, where he co-ministered with his sister and father. In 2018, he was appointed to the UWM Board of Trustees, and served until October 2020, when he was hired at Unity Worldwide Ministries as President/CEO.
Along with his wife, Erinna, he created the Power of Focused Ministry workshop to support and equip Unity ministries and leaders to thrive and grow. In 2 years, they led 40 workshops nationwide, with attendance from over 1000 Unity leaders representing over 300 Unity ministries. During their travels, they discovered a desire in Unity congregants to revive the Fillmore teachings, and they consequently received a calling to launch a new kind of church, based in the Practical Christianity envisioned by the Fillmores.
A vegetarian since age 12, Rev. Shad became vegan in 2012, and is a passionate advocate for a whole foods, plant-based lifestyle. He also advocates, and exemplifies, the power of Christ in us to heal our bodies and minds, and our compassionate responsibility to care for all beings and nature by reducing our consumption with a low-impact lifestyle. He has been married to Erinna since 2014.
