What is the cause of darkness in the consciousness?
12. Our giving up to passing waves of anger, hate, fear, jealousy, greed, or clinging to some old grudge will cause darkness in our consciousness. Love must be allowed to shine on all alike, and when we can love all alike then we may expect our prayers to be of avail. Jesus said, "If therefore thou art offering thy gift at the altar (prayer), and there rememberest that thy brother hath aught against thee, leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way, first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift." — Matt. 5:23,24. We are to live our lives so that there will not be even an appearance of anything unlike love.
